Alisha Risser
Alisha Risser grew up in Broadway, Virginia in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley. Alisha’s love for Africa was formed at a very young age as she remembers missionaries returning home on furlough and sharing some of their experiences. This passion continued to grow as she sensed God’s call on her life to pursue a nutrition degree to help treat and prevent malnutrition. Throughout the next several years she was able to travel to Kenya, Guatemala, and Peru on various mission trips as God solidified her call.
She graduated from James Madison University with a Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics in 2009. Alisha was accepted into the Augusta Area Dietetic Internship in Augusta, Georgia. After successfully completing her internship, Alisha passed her board exam to become a registered dietitian in the summer of 2010. That fall Alisha was offered a job at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia as the dietitian for the Intensive Care Unit, Step Down Unit, and Pediatrics. Over the past two years she has been able to develop her nutrition skills, experience and knowledge in hopes to better aid the people of Bundibugyo.
