Jessica grew up in Lena, IL. She attended Wartburg College in Waverly, IA. She earned her medical degree from Midwestern University (The Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine) in 2003. She then spent 3 years in western North Carolina, completing a family practice residency. Jessica returned to the mid-west in 2006 where she worked for 4 years at a community health center in Indianapolis, serving the urban poor and refugees.
Jessica had felt for many years that God had been calling her to long-term missions. She completed short-term missions work in Ghana, Niger, China, and Ecuador. Now she is excited to be in Uganda on a long-term basis, doing the work that God has called her to.
Jessica is working in a remote area of Uganda near the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo, providing medical care primarily to children through the treatment of hospitalized children and through the development and implementation of community health programs to help malnourished children and those affected by sickle cell disease. Jessica also mentors and disciples young women.
By serving the Ugandans with medical care and by building relationships, her desire is to share the love of Christ, the true healer of hearts and lives.
