Michael and Lesley Stevens

Michael and Lesley are joining the Bundibugyo team on the ground in early 2012.

Michael visited Kenya in 2001 for a short term mission trip and most recently taught English as a second language (ESL) at West Nairobi School (WNS) under the supervision of the Network of International Christian Schools (NICS).

Lesley has been to Kenya twice with Mission to the World (MTW) on mission trips, once for 3 months in 2006 and a follow up visit in 2007 before she and Michael made a long term move to East Africa in July of 2009. She most recently focused on slum ministry and representing a non-profit organization called Development in Gardening (DIG) where she taught locals how to grow sustainable gardens for the goal of improving their nutrition.

In Uganda, Michael hopes to support Christ School Bundibugyo through education and discipleship. This includes, but is not limited to, plans to counsel CSB graduates, coordinate extracurricular activities, and lead teachers and students in Bible study through small group and chapel settings.

Lesley will work with BundiNutrition staff in coordinating demonstration gardens, the Matiti Goat Project, BBB Clinics, and motherless/HIV nutrition clinics. She also hopes to explore ways that bring art and creative development to the community as well as partnering with CSB in nutrition and art projects.

Before moving to East Africa in July 2009, God planted a seed in their hearts concerning this mission in Uganda. Now, they both are humbled and overjoyed to be vessels for Christ in Bundibugyo.
