Stephen and Karis Rigby
Stephen and Karis met in Nairobi, Kenya in the fall of 2008. Karis was with World Harvest Mission for an 8 month internship program and met Stephen who was doing soccer ministry with Amabassdors in Sport. Stephen continued his work in Kenya (August '07-March '11) and Karis returned to Chattanooga, TN where she worked in the admissions department at Covenant College. The two ended 2 years of long distance dating when they tied the knot on April 30th, 2011.
Stephen graduated from Wheaton College in 2007 with a degree in business and economics. His passion for spreading the gospel and using soccer as a ministry tool started early on as he engaged in many short-term missions trips locally and internationally. Karis graduated from Covenant College in 2008 with a major in sociology and a minor in youth ministry. Karis grew up in the WHM family as her parents (Eric and Karen Brauer) were missionaries in Ireland and gradually through involvement in local sports ministry and church youth group realized her heart for relational ministry and missions as well. Together they share a love for leadership development, mentorship of youth, encouraging others in the gospel and Kenya! They joined George and Martha Mixon's team in Nairobi, Kenya on May 2, 2012 where Stephen has continued doing soccer ministry with local churches and youth in the slums and Karis is working with the WHM interns in Kenya.
