Matthew Barnette
Matthew, son of Ginny and Rodger Barnette, was raised in Elkins Park, PA; two blocks outside of Philadelphia. While always having a small desire to work in ministry, it was in 2000, when the Barnette’s house caught on fire, which helped Matthew to realize his life was not his own and to truly start thinking about missions. Matthew attended Grove City College, where he graduated with a BA in Philosophy in 2010. During his time at college he was heavily involved with theater, IM Frisbee and the local chapter of Intervarsity.
During this time at college Matthew went on two summer missions’ trips to Kenya; The first time in Isiolo working with Guy Rainsford, and the second time working at Camp BlueSky. During both of these trips God taught Matthew much about his grace and the meaning of humility. During this time, he felt called to go into seminary, but, after talking with many people, decided to take time off to do full time ministry with World Harvest.
