Megan Burkhalter
Megan Burkhalter was born and raised in North Carolina and had the privilege of having parents who encouraged her to have a heart for Christ. She grew up thinking that missionaries were very exciting people and hoped that one day she would get to be one. She reads the Chronicles of Narnia at least once a year and enjoys being the second oldest of five children. Megan attended Elon University in Burlington, NC and graduated in May 2009 with a BA in History. She had at least eight different jobs during her four years at Elon, including working at a Boys and Girls Club and working as a Resident Assistant in her dorm.
While in college Megan grew in her love for the Father and his word through her involvement with a college ministry called Campus Outreach. After serving on two Summer Beach Projects with Campus Outreach the Lord led Megan to a summer internship with WHM in Ireland in 2008. During this time, the Lord taught her a lot about weakness and grace and gave her a heart for church planting, missions, toast, and tea. Her summer in Ireland left her with a desire to experience more of the Kingdom and the church outside of the United States as well as a desire to grow in cross-cultural missions. Megan will be serving as an apprentice with the MAP program in London starting in June of 2010. She is excited to experience the transformative power of the Gospel both in her own life and in the lives of others during her time in London.
