Tanisha Webster
Tanisha is a new missionary who will be going to London in September 2013 to participate in the Mission Apprenticeship Program (MAP). She has a passion for Christ and a desire to see students and families made whole based on the teaching of God's word. She graduated from Austin Peay State University in 2003 with a degree in Communications. After serving in youth ministry for 9 years, Tanisha moved to Chattanooga in 2006 to pursue a master's in Youth and Family Ministries. Though that venture didn't materialize, in God's providence she joined New City Fellowship Chattanooga where she begin to be exposed to Missions. She took her first Mission trip to Kenya in 2009 where she helped with students in the Kibera slums and children and adults with mental and physical disabilities. She returned the summer of 2012 to do more of the same as well helped a local church put on bible clubs. She also had the opportunity to work with a sewing and knitting project, Amani Ya Juu.
Growing up in a military family Tanisha believes God gave just the right amount of exposure to what it means to live cross-culturally. She has lived in Germany and several of our states here in the U.S. The reality that she herself was a 3rd culture kid makes it much easier to consider missions and respond to the call to go. She is hoping to receive not just training and discipleship while serving in London, but also to consider what it will take to recruit African Americans for the mission field.
