Steve and Laura Morgan
Steve and Laura never dreamed they might one day be missionaries. But in mid-2007, a retired Presbyterian pastor challenged Steve (an associate pastor) and Laura (a homeschooling mother) to lay down their lives and relinquish all restrictions on their life of ministry – to go anywhere, at any time, at any cost for the sake of the Gospel. A history with Sonship and a series of providential encounters rocked their world and brought them to World Harvest Mission, where the mission, vision, and core values deeply align with their life experiences and philosophy of ministry. Now, after spending their entire lifetimes in the Birmingham (Alabama) area, they are excitedly preparing to join the Church Resources Team in Dublin, Ireland, where they will provide encouragement and support to Irish church planters, their spouses and their congregations.
Steve and Laura met 26 years ago, when they were both 15. They’ve been married for 20 years and are the parents of four great kids – Emma, Eli, Aden, and Isabella. Steve, who enjoys helping believers knead the Gospel into their everyday lives, is convinced church planting is the most effective way to grow the Kingdom. He believes his opportunity to come alongside Irish church planters is a gift from God. He’s a handyman who likes to fix things (cars, houses, computers, etc.) and spends his spare time gardening, fishing, napping, and whistling. Laura spent her corporate years writing/producing publications for a major telecom company, but has encountered her own need for Jesus most intensely during the nine years she’s been home with her children. She loves reading and art, has a heart for women, is a huge fan of the Ohio-based music group Over the Rhine, and has a fetish for anything made of paper. She’s looking forward to building relationships with Irish women.
