Phil King
Phil is the younger of two sons of Frank and Linda King. He was raised outside of Philadelphia, where he attended New Life Presbyterian Church in Dresher and was actively engaged in Young Life throughout high school. He went on to receive a degree in Political Science and two minors in German and Physics at Bucknell University, where his brother, Andrew, is on staff with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. While at Bucknell he was involved with InterVarsity, the Bible Study he started in his fraternity, the Bucknell Brigade to Nicaragua, and several other service based organizations. The summer before his senior year, the Lord called him to serve as an intern with World Harvest Mission in Mundri, Southern Sudan and it was through this experience that he began understanding Christ’s heart for underserved populations.
Upon graduating from Bucknell, he returned to serve a 6-month term with World Harvest in Sudan. After returning from Sudan, he mentored and tutored 6th graders in North Philadelphia at Francis Hopkinson Elementary School. As a result of the transformation he has seen in himself during his time serving with WHM, he has felt a deep desire and calling to encourage and challenge others to think about missions. In June 2011, he joined WHM as a Mobilization Recruiter and will be working in the Sending Center in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. He looks forward to relating his own experiences in cross-cultural missions to excite and motivate people to shift from thinking about missions in terms of how it fits into our lives’, to thinking about how our lives’ fit into it.
