Uganda Internship

christschool

We proclaim the kingdom of Jesus Christ in Uganda through church and community development.

WHM began working in Uganda in 1983. The work originated in the capital of Kampala and gradually worked its way westward to the remote and isolated Bundibugyo district that borders the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The Uganda team currently works in two areas: Fort Portal and Bundibugyo. The WHM team is sharing the gospel in western Uganda through work in health care, water engineering, education, counseling, nutrition, and theological teaching.

The internship is an intense cross-cultural experience where you live and work beside Ugandan families and students. You will gain experience sharing the gospel cross-culturally through structured and unstructured relational ministries.

Interns in Bundibugyo will be primarily teaching and mentoring high school-aged students at Christ School Bundibugyo. Interns staying in Fort Portal will work with elementary-aged students at Hope Primary School. Both internships also include church and community involvement, observation of work in health centers and hospitals, and work with children of the missionaries.

An intern in Uganda will:

  • Teach in a primary or secondary Ugandan school
  • Observe work in health care and water engineering
  • Disciple students
  • Practice language learning
  • Participate in Bible study and one-on-one discipleship
  • Lead club activities in a Ugandan school
  • Invest in the lives of missionary kids
  • Interact with long-term missionaries
  • Create a research project related to education or health
