Why write new music?
Very little Christian worship music of this nature exists in the world. Most Asian churches worship with either Western worship music, or in a traditional Asian folk style...until very recently! Nikhil George and other musicians at New Life Masih Ghar (London-Southall) have begun writing high quality, contemporary Asian worship music, and the church is now singing more joyfully than ever before.
Music ministry is extremely important to the planting of new churches. Churches by their very nature are worshipping communities, and new churches that are planted amongst unreached people groups need new songs to express the joy of the gospel that are contextual to that culture.
What will we do with funds raised for this project?
Our vision is to fund the creation of new worship music, and new arrangements of older western and Asian-styled songs. With the help of World Music Mission, a partner in this project, we'll produce a high-quality album that will capture the desired musical style of New Life Masih Ghar.
In addition to helping our church in corporate worship, we believe this new music will also:
- Introduce new worship music to other Asian churches
- Provide a high quality musical worship album that can be used for personal worship by Asian believers
- Encourage others towards creativity in developing Contemporary Asian worship music
- Serve as an evangelistic gift to our non-believing friends
