Harrow, U.K.
Vision
“To partner with British South Asian leadership in establishing a service (seva)-orientated, culturally-understandable group (sangat, ‘ekklesia’) of Jesus-followers (Isu bhaktas) in the British South Asian context of North West London.”
Overview of our Ministry in London
Harrow & Brent, home to the national futbol stadium and to 150,000+ people of Indian or Pakistani descent, truly reflect 21st century London’s claim to being ‘the most diverse city ever’ (Guardian). Into the ‘uncharted territory’ of this ‘great experiment of multi-culturalism,’ the Lord Jesus (Prabhu Isu) prompted a small group of His followers from diverse (Indian, American) ethnic backgrounds to begin asking, “What would our worship and devotion to Jesus look like if...?”
- ...we were honest about our own brokenness (paap), yet truly experiencing the forgiveness and hope found in the Good News of our Reigning Lord?
- ...the multi-faceted Good News began to bless our families, friends, colleagues and neighbours?
- ...we were faithful to the unchanging, unique Word of Prabhu Isu while also embracing much of the great beauty on display in our British South Asian cultural context?
In response, God’s Holy Spirit (Pavitra Aatma) has helped us to begin experiencing and sharing the life-changing love of Prabhu Isu through culturally-understandable worship (Jesus-satsang), through practical service (running youth clubs, singing Jesus-bhajans in homes), through enjoying and intentionally sharing life together (celebrating Indian dancing, Jesus’ birthday, our birthdays), and through mercy projects (starting a local thrift shop specializing in Indian clothing which blesses our neighbourhood and worthy projects in around the world).
We have much to learn and to do. Would God’s Spirit have you play a unique role in seeing His ‘experiment’ deepen locally and multiply elsewhere?
